59er Diner Famous MilkshakeThe 59er Diner is just about halfway between Snohomish and Lake Chelan on Highway 2, which makes it the perfect stopping place on our frequent drives over the Steven’s Pass. The food is as locally sourced as they can make it, sometimes getting salad fixings from their very own gardens!  The quality is hit or miss, but the ingredients are always top-notch, so it’s worth a try.  On our first trip, my mom ordered spaghetti to split with me, and the bottom of the plate was just filled with water. Luckily she gave me all good bites. Our second trip was more successful. I got a grilled cheese sandwich all to myself (served with carrot sticks that my parents said were too crunchy for me), my mom’s fish sandwich she claimed was very tasty (I didn’t want to try any), and my dad’s seafood chowder he said was also tasty. I chose not to try that either. I did, however, try his peanut butter milkshake. Yum-O!!! You could see smears of peanut butter on the inside of the glass, unlike some places that use the powdered stuff. The entire menu is a blast from the past, so if your mom talks a lot about diets, you may want to tell her to keep on driving. My parents never use that word, so bring on the milkshakes!59er Diner Kids Menu
